Oh by the way...

We LOVED Buenos Aires, oil spills and malignant capitalism (?) aside. This huge, beer-drinking, pizza-eating, classic-rock-loving, political, frenetic, dancing, hyper-colorful, art-centric, GORGEOUS city really suited us! There is beauty everywhere you look: architecture is stunning, the parks make you want to linger for hours (and you do!), even people's clothing is just... pretty! The city buzzes with energy all day and night. It has the grace of any European metropolitan center juxtaposed with the incongruous helter-skelter spirit of any place where two or more South Americans are gathered.

For instance, you've just had delicious espresso served to you in demure demitasse cups by a bow-tied waiter at a sidewalk cafe, you toss a few pesos onto the immaculate white table cloth and step out across the plaza, and around the corner... THE CACOPHONY OF A PARADE DRUMS BANGING FLAGS WAVING PEOPLE CHEERING AND BOOING AND THE HONK HONK HONNNNNK OF TRAFFIC STOPPED FOR BLOCKS AND BLOCKS IN THE SWELTERING MIDDAY HEAT OF RUSH HOUR!
